We are delighted to offer field maple as hedging. This easy-to-grow, tough native surely makes one of the best of all boundaries for any garden, regardless of size. Its 15cm long, hand-shaped leaves are particularly appealing. We love the way it changes with the seasons, turning yellow-gold in autumn, and it’s a perfect choice for rural areas as it blends well with other native plants.

Interestingly, we’ve seen it in recent years looking superb in many RHS show gardens and it can fit both traditional or contemporary spaces. Quick-growing, Acer campestre soon provides a decent screen and, when mature, can be clipped regularly to form a smart, rather sharply defined hedge. You can even use it as a component in a mixed hedge. This plant holds an Award of Garden Merit (AGM) from the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) which is given only to the best garden plants.
