Jamie Butterworth

A Vision Realised

Meet Form Plants founder and managing director

Jamie Butterworth is Form Plants’ founder and managing director. From an early age, Jamie caught the horticulture bug, after realising the magic of growing from seed. A career working with plants was inevitable, as Jamie trained with the RHS at Wisley, becoming a Young RHS Ambassador at just 21 years-old, before gaining experience working with garden designers and the public at a prominent nursery in Hampshire.

When Jamie founded Form Plants in 2020, his aim was simple: to create a nursery unlike anything else in the industry. “I’ve always wanted a nursery that genuinely puts the customer first,” he explains. “With Form Plants, we’ve built a considered, design-led space – somewhere to showcase beautiful trees, shrubs, and topiary, all nurtured by a brilliant team of horticultural experts who really care about every project. Our showroom is relaxed, welcoming, and inspiring. We’re not just shifting stock – we’re partnering with our customers, and I truly believe there’s no one else doing what Form does, in the way that we do it.”

RHS Shows & Gold Medal Success

award-winning Gardens at Chelsea and Beyond

Jamie has created several gold medal award-winning RHS show gardens, including: RHS Chelsea Flower Show (2022), RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival (2021) and at the RHS’s then flower show at Chatsworth (2019).
2025 saw Jamie and the team at Form collaborate with renowned gardener, author and presenter, Monty Don, and BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley, to create a Chelsea first: The RHS and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden.

The garden was a celebration of how our canine friends enjoy gardens just as much as us humans and was given the royal seal-of-approval when King Charles III and Queen Camilla visited the garden at the show. Following the show, the garden has been relocated to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Publications & Media Appearances

From Best-selling books to Gardeners’ World

Jamie’s most recent book ‘What Grows Together: Fail-safe Plant Combinations for Every Garden’. is a Sunday Times Best Seller.

Jamie explains his philosophy about gardening, “Gardening should be accessible to everyone. Whether you’re growing flowers in a few pots on your balcony, or propagating seeds in a custom-built greenhouse, the joy of getting our hands muddy has such benefits to all of us.”

As well as overseeing the running of Form Plants, Jamie also finds time in his busy schedule to appear as a presenter on BBC’s ‘Gardeners’ World’, and ITV’s ‘Love Your Weekend’.
